We have an exciting opportunity for a Campus Safety Specialist located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA. Under general direction of the Safety & Security Operations Supervisor and Director of Campus Safety, the Campus Safety Specialist performs skilled duties in the Campus Safety trade. Trains, assigns, reviews, and coordinates the essential duties as they relate to the successful operation of the Campus Safety Department. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1) High school diploma or GED; AND 2) Five (5) years of varied and increasingly responsible security, military or law enforcement experience; AND 3) Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, and photograph***
SUBSTITUTIONS Substitutions for meeting the minimum qualifications for the professional experience requirement are allowed, as follows: Formal training in security or public safety (*attach transcript, certificate of completion, etc.) SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Possession of or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire: -A valid California driver's license with a driving record acceptable to the District If selected, employment commencement is contingent upon successful enrollment in the District’s DMV Pull Program. Employees enrolled in the DMV Pull Program MUST continuously maintain a driving record that meets District requirements set forth in the current policy as it relates to allowable types of infractions and points. 2. Position requires some responsibility working evening, weekend, Holiday, and extended hours during peak periods 3. Position requires flexibility to work overtime and/or changes in work schedule in order to meet departmental needs DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Possession of: -First Aid Certificate -Adult CPR Certificate 2. Ability to quickly learn and apply campus rules and regulations related to work performed 3. Professional experience in -preparing clear and concise procedural reports -vehicle parking enforcement and traffic control which includes extensive interaction with staff and the public -campus safety/security environment in a community college or university (or other related community agency) -assessing law enforcement and identifying safety hazards -analyzing situations and acting/responding quickly and appropriately -Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Word 4. Prior experience in approaching work and interaction with colleagues and/or students in an equity-minded manner. Ability to promote an inclusive and welcoming work/education environment.
