
Occupational Therapist at Anaheim Elementary School District (TK-6)
Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION, LICENSES, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, Master’s or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy required if graduated after January 1, 2007. • Two years of paid work experience with school-aged children in a variety of settings, including school, home, and clinic. • Training in sensory integration testing and techniques, and experience working collaboratively with families is desirable. • Proof of current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy and current licensure with the California Board of Occupational Therapy. • Valid Class C California Driver’s License. • Valid CPR certification for health care providers. REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: • Knowledge of domain and process of occupational therapy. • Knowledge of sensory, physical, educational, and intellectual development needs associated with young children. • Knowledge of childhood diagnoses, disease processes, and prognosis assessment and treatment techniques associated with different types of disabilities and the pediatric population. • Knowledge of OT frames of reference and evaluation tools used in OT pediatric practices. • Knowledge of modifications to tasks and environmental factors to enhance student’s functioning and achievement of academic goals. • Knowledge of California Education Code and California Special Education health and safety regulations. • Ability to design, evaluate, and recommend a variety of modifications and determine needs for treatment, transition, and discharge planning processes. • Ability to interpret multi-disciplinary evaluations and medical reports. • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, community organizations, and others in the course of work.
