About the Employer

ASPIRE Creative Arts Program is a day program that empowers adults with intellectual disabilities through the visual and performing arts. Students are 22 and older with an intellectual disability, who are ambulatory, capable of handling their personal needs, show no current aggressive behaviors and show an interest, skill, or talent in any of the arts. ASPIRE offers a large variety of classes in the visual and performing arts, e.g. Art (drawing, painting, printmaking, art therapy, etc.), music (instrument playing, vocals, solo & group performances, bell choir, music therapy, etc.), drama (non-verbal expression, scripting, acting, drama therapy, etc.), dance (free form, Bollywood), crafts (knitting, jewelry making, etc.) as well as pre-vocational and life enrichment classes like Computer skills, Reading & Writing and Money skills. ASPIRE encourages its students to explore new opportunities and experiences which may bring light to undiscovered skills and talents. These may include computer animation, language learning (Sign Language, Spanish, etc.), creative writing and more. The program is site-based with occasional field trips, vendored through the Regional Center of Orange County and also serving neighboring Regional Center clients. The daily program is from 8:30am to 2:30pm. Each student has 5 scheduled classes a day, each 50 minutes long with a 10 minute break and a 1 hour lunch break. Schedules vary each day to offer a wider selection of classes to everyone. Currently ASPIRE has 45 full and part-time students enrolled.
