As the California Virtual Academies are public schools and this is a public school teacher position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

August 2023- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2023-2024 school year. We are an enrollment based school, we may need to hire teachers at any time throughout the year as our enrollment continues to grow.
Location
Our Administrative Office is located in Simi Valley, CA, but most of our teachers work from home.

ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (ELDS) POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider. ELD specialists meet with students throughout the week in virtual classrooms to provide standards-based targeted instruction based on the CA ELD Standards that meet the language needs of the students, as well as support students in content area coursework, provide additional one-to-one support, and provide curriculum support to homeroom and content teachers. ELD specialists build lasting relationships with their students through consistent outreach throughout the school year and monitor attendance and engagement. Additionally, ELD specialists provide interventions as needed to ensure students remain engaged and grow academically. ELD specialists’ caseloads are generally made up of 2-3 grade levels in either elementary (K-5), middle school (6-8), or high school (9-12) students. ELD specialists are required to connect virtually with students once per quarter at minimum and attend one in-person event each quarter. All ELD specialists are required to proctor state testing. Please Note: Although ELD specialists can be assigned a grade span of elementary, middle, or high school, all interested applicants will need to be willing to teach all grades, K-12.
