Job Description and Duties
With direction from the Education Research and Evaluation Administrator I of the Psychometrics, Evaluation and Data Office, the Education Research and Evaluation Consultant (EREC) collaborates with consultants in the Assessment Development and Administration Division (ADAD) to plan, organize, conduct, and review analyses of assessment related information. The EREC performs complex educational research and evaluation assignments that support California's statewide student assessment system and coordinates information gathering and document development in support of communications with the State Board of Education (SBE) and the Government Affairs Division of the California Department of Education (CDE) on assessment topics. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Review potential impacts of legislation on assessment programs, assessment data, and the evaluation of assessments and assessment programs.
• Provide support and coordinate data collection for development of requests for proposals for assessments and assessment related contracts.
• Develop surveys and questionnaires, including Internet and email based surveys.
• Coordinate responses to requests for information including, but not limited to, surveys regarding assessment programs, Superintendent's correspondence, and the Communications Office.
• Coordinate review of assessment related research and policy reports.
• Provide data collection and analysis support of public data releases and inquiries from ADAD offices, the executive office, and the SBE.
• Use Excel and statistical software programs such as SAS and/or SPSS to check assessment data and conduct statistical analyses in support of the ADAD.
• Coordinate document reviews and write technical reports.
• Write, review, and edit reports, SBE Items, and other documents as required to support programs of the ADAD.
• Collect data and organize reviews by others to produce comprehensive summaries of findings, ensuring compliance with state and federal mandates.
• Consult with supervisor, consultants, and staff within the ADAD to provide quality information for reporting to the public and in support of CDE decision making.
• Coordinate Technical Advisory Group meetings for the various assessment programs.

Working Conditions
TELEWORK OPTION
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.
