Requirements / Qualifications
SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: • Recent speech/language experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder • Assess students to help identify student speech and/or language disorders; • Consult with teachers and parents regarding speech/language problems and in screening referrals for speech/language assessments; • Evaluate and interpret assessment results and make appropriate recommendations to address the student’s speech/language needs; • Consult with other service providers, including school psychologists, special education teachers, general education teachers and occupational therapists to appropriate plan the student’s individualized education program; • Maintain professional competence through participation in in-service activities provided by the District, SELPA and/or professional organizations; • Plan and implement preschool-8th grade therapy programs on an individual basis in accordance with student needs and state standards; • Evaluate student progress, maintain records of such progress, prepare progress reports and effectively communicate student progress in IEP meetings; and • Participate effectively as a member of collaborative teams at the site and district level. REQUIRED CREDENTIALS AND AUTHORIZATIONS: Valid California Credential in Language, Speech, and Hearing or meet qualifications for California credential authorization.
