Instructional Aide (Braille) - Los Angeles Unified School District The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is hiring Instructional Aides (Braille) to support its Division of Special Education. These 6-hour-per-day, 9-month (C-Basis) positions assist visually-impaired students by reinforcing classroom instruction, operating braille and accessibility equipment, and preparing instructional materials in braille or large print. The role pays $28.57 to $34.79 per hour, and offers excellent benefits, including paid premiums for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, membership in CalPERS, paid vacation, and up to 13 paid holidays. Minimum Requirements: Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and either (1) 48 semester/72 quarter college units, (2) an associate degree, or (3) passing scores on the District Proficiency and Instructional Assistant Tests. Applicants must also have at least six months of experience assisting visually-impaired students or performing braille transcription, or have completed a braille transcription course. A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in the State of California and the availability of private transportation, or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation.
