Requirements / Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with valid California Teaching Credential authorizing service in assigned grade and subject area is required. English Learner Authorization is required. Desirable Qualifications: Teaching experience at grade level or subject area; Master's Degree and/or post graduate course work. 1. Continue to develop a comprehensive Theater/Drama education and performance program. Classes will include beginning to advanced levels. Current courses include Theater I, Theater 2/3, Theater 4 and Technical Theater. 2. Utilize a variety of instructional approaches to teach essential skills used in the Theater Industry. 3. Continue to develop, plan and maintain effective classroom management strategies in alignment with district and school site policies and procedures. 4. Continue to develop, implement and monitor safety policies and procedures for all Theater related activities. 5. Instruct and supervise students in the appropriate and safe use in all Theater related tools and technology. 6. Evaluate student progress in knowledge, concepts and essential skills. 7. Direct performances which include evenings and weekends for the community, parents and school site. Three annual stipends are available for extra-curricular performances. 8. Work closely with the Visual and Performing Arts Department to plan and organize collaborative events. 9. Knowledge of Theatrical principles and techniques, budgeting, sourcing materials, set design and construction, lighting and basic audio/visual understanding is highly desirable.
