Job Summary
The Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (part-time, hours TBD) serves as a resource for the implementation of the Special Education program for Nea and Alameda Community Learning Center Schools. This position supports the delivery of speech and language services to individuals with communication disorders. Working under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLP-A carries out treatment plans, assisting with screenings and assessments without interpretation, documenting patient progress, and facilitating communication-focused activities to support clients’ speech, language, and communication goals. SLP-As increase service efficiency, help manage caseload demands, and allow SLPs to focus on more complex cases and evaluations. The SLP reports directly to the Special Education Coordinator at each school, respectively, or to the Lead Facilitator, in the absence of a Special Education Coordinator. Job Description: • Track record of effective collaboration with professional team. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. • Computer and technology skills sufficient to accomplish all functional aspects of the job. • Ability to develop positive, trusting relationships with people of all ages, kindergarten through adult. • Experience with Kindergarten through 12th grade children preferred. • Exceptional organizational skills. • Able to be flexible and maintain positive demeanor, even in fast-paced work environment. • Knowledge of SEIS is preferred. Requirements / Qualifications
Associate’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology, Required Bachelor’s Degree in Communicative Disorders or related field, Preferred Valid California License in Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant granted by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. 1+ year as a Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant, preferably in a school setting
