
ATHLETIC TRAINER at Covina-Valley Unified School District
Requirements / Qualifications
THE VACANCY: There are various, full-time, 10.5-month, permanent, open positions at High School sites. This recruitment will also be used to fill future vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. THE POSITION: Under the direction of the High School Principal or designee, performs a variety of activities involved in the prevention, recognition, evaluation, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries; administers preventative or rehabilitative treatment to students and athletes engaged in various school sports; provides information, in-service, and guidance to coaches and faculty; serves as a liaison between the students, parents, coaches, and physicians in evaluation, management, treatment, and long- term rehabilitation of athletic injuries; and works a flexible schedule.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physical education, athletic training, health, or a related field, six months of paid or volunteer experience working in an athletic training environment, a valid National Athletic Trainers Association Certification, a valid First Aid and CPR certificate, a valid California Class C Driver's License and auto insurance coverage which meets or exceeds the California legal liability insurance requirement at time of appointment and throughout employment, and use of a personal automobile to conduct work. SELECTION PROCEDURE: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview each weighted 50%. The following must be submitted with the application:

- CPR/First Aid Certification
- DMV Printout (within 30 days of applying)
- Driver's License Copy
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three, no older than a year, signed and dated)
