Summary of Duties: Under general direction, acts as secretary to the Principal of the School Site dealing with a variety of sensitive and privileged matters; prepares or coordinates information and data for administrative review; attends meetings and conferences as requested; takes and transcribes correspondence, reports and other materials; interprets policies, regulations and operational procedures; answers routine inquires and correspondence; maintains an action calendar scheduling appointments, conferences, and meetings; establishes and maintains complex files which may include privileged data; coordinates and organizes the duties of clerical staff; assists with budget planning and expenditure control procedures; and performs related duties as required. Education and experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by training or course work in business office management, organization and supervision, or related technical skill areas at the community college level or higher. Three years of responsible secretarial experience, one year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is preferred. Knowledge of: Principles, methods, techniques and strategies of clerical staff supervision and organization; modern office methods and equipment, including MS Office; receptionist and telephone response techniques; English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Ability to: Perform and coordinate difficult office, secretarial and clerical work; supervise the work of others; learn, interpret and apply complex policies, administrative regulations and operational procedures; prepare clear and comprehensive reports; make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy; understand and carry out oral and written directions.

EXAMINATION INFORMATION: All applicants must pass a series of three tests before interview consideration. The three tests consist of: 1.) A multiple choice Secretary skills test; 2.) MS Word computer software application test; 3.) MS Excel computer software application test. ACCOMMODATIONS: In compliance with the American Disabilities Act, applicants with disabilities may request that reasonable accommodation be given related to the examination process itself. Applicants must notify the Office of Human Resources in writing of the type of accommodations being requested at the time of filing the application. Applicants may be required to provide documentation supporting the request for accommodation when the request is made.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by training or coursework in business office management, organization and supervision, or related technical skill areas at the community college or higher level. Three years of responsible secretarial experience, one year of experience in a lead or supervisory capacity is preferred. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such in the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application. A record of conviction will not automatically disqualify an applicant from employment, but a failure to list all convictions may result in disqualification or dismissal.
