Job Summary

DEFINITION Under the supervision of the Director of Early Learning Programs; The Early Learning Support Specialist (ELSS) will develop and maintain relationships with families and ensure that they receive comprehensive services through their participation in the program. Comprehensive services include health and social services, disabilities, early childhood education and care services, and a range of parent development training opportunities at the site. The ELSS is also responsible for conducting community outreach efforts to identify and develop relationships with community-bases organizations that provide other needed services to families. This position also works closely with the Early Learning staff, to ensure that the department is compliant with meeting all of the CDE requirements. This is a non-exempt position. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Acts as a community liaison with social service agencies and community networks as requested by site staff. • Assesses and creates intervention plans consistent with best practice and evidence-based treatments. • Collaborate with Teaching staff and outside agencies to provide collateral interventions, and monitors student behavior. • Attend IEP meetings. • Provides support to staff members requesting consultation and information on access to outside resources. • Communicate with Center Staff, parents and Director regarding the level of assistance required for the student. • Develop and maintain meaningful, productive relationships with families • Create social emotional goals for identified students; monitor progress and collect data related to targeted behavioral goals; work closely with outside mental health providers, teachers, psychologist and administrators. • Maintain appropriate records of services rendered to students and families. • Maintain confidentiality of information for the purpose of meeting privacy requirements. • Assist in the Recruitment and enrollment families into the program • Make appropr

Requirements / Qualifications

• Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and/or college with major course work in Special Education, Child Development, Education, Psychology, or closely relate field.

• Three (3) years of experience working with behaviorally challenged; and/or autistic students under 5 years of age. • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience including, training teaching staff, program development and monitoring. • Three (3) years of experience using ERS, DRDP, ASQ:3 ASQ: SE. • One (1) year of supervisory experience in an early education classroom.


  • Specialist Instruction in Special Education - Learning Handicapped (Communication Handicapped as well.)

Requirements / Qualifications
