Requirements / Qualifications
Under the direction of the Dean of Students-Activities is directly responsible to the Principal to perform all duties required by the Duarte Unified School District. First Aid and CPR Certificate Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic setting. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other certificated and classified personnel. Ability to develop strong rapport with students. Experience at comparable level of competition.
Works with cheerleaders during practices and events. Conducts meetings for team members and parents at regular intervals. Assesses skills and assigns team positions. Works with Dean of Students-Activities to schedule facilities for practices and competitions. Coaches and instructs cheerleaders, individually and in groups, regarding rules, regulations, and fundamental techniques of the sport. Supervises cheerleaders during practices and events. Establishes and maintains standards for student behavior reflective of the school and district. Monitors the academic performance of the cheerleaders and ensures all students are eligible for athletic participation. Follows protocol related to injury or concussion. Conferences with parent/guardian regarding student academic, athletic, or behavioral performance. Models appropriate behavior reflective of school and district guidelines and expectations.
