ABOUT THE JOB: Persons in these positions will work 8 hours per day, 12 months per year. Under direction, utilizes a high degree of independent judgment to plan, organize, and coordinate student participation in work-based learning activities, and similar programs for career and technical education; monitors assigned district programs to ensure adherence to grant requirements; performs related duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES: Sustains, supports, develops, and enhances work-based learning opportunities for all 7-12 grade students to promote career awareness, career exploration, career preparation, and career training; creates and presents career exploration and career readiness lessons and workshops to assist students with career research, interest surveys, resume building, online portfolios, interview preparation, professional communication skills, networking, and related topics; establishes and builds relationships with local business, community partners, local workforce agencies, and educational partners for the purpose of providing student opportunities such as work-based learning experiences, field trips and tours, guest speakers, mentors, internships, and other supports for students in preparation of career readiness; supports Career Technical Education (CTE) teachers and students in the ordering, distribution, preparation, and administration of industry-recognized certification exams; supports CTE teachers and students in coordinating Career Technical Student Organization affiliations, special events, student leadership conferences, and regional, state, and national competitions; identifies and develops paid and unpaid internship host sites; meets with prospective employers to explain work-based learning programs; networks and recruits potential employers; and maintains ongoing contact with local employers, community, local and state agencies; distributes, screens, and follows-up on student surveys and applications; matches students’ aptitudes and interests to work-based learning sites; and refers students to employers for interviews and/or placement; provides student support services at internship sites, following-up with students and employers regarding student progress, and identifying any necessary interventions for students to successfully complete the work training programs; collects, records, and reports work-based learning data and experiences into student information systems and other databases and systems; initiates and generates a variety of reports, spreadsheets and documents, ensuring the accuracy of data; and reconciles data between student information system and district, state, and federal reporting; collaborates with CTE department staff, school administration, counselors, and external organizations in the planning, development and evaluation of district work-based learning and grant projects; assists with the processing of purchase orders and invoices related to work-based learning and grant projects, monitoring project expenditures according to district guidelines; and maintaining auditable records; attends meetings, advisories, conferences, and workshops, some of which may be scheduled during evenings or weekends, in order to maintain up-to-date knowledge of programs and requirements; develops, distributes, and displays promotional and informational materials around work-based learning; performs complex and technical work involving reviews and audits of career education materials requiring familiarity with policies, practices, and procedures.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of college course work from an accredited college or university; and two years of experience, equivalent to full-time work, in job placement, school-community relations, and/or career guidance work. Presentation and testing or assessment experience is desirable. Part-time experience will be considered and adjusted appropriately. Any other combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be considered.
A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE REQUIRES THE FOLLOWING….
Knowledge of: Career Technical Education and work-based learning programs including job training, internships, and career exploration programs and activities; best practices in occupational, vocational, and career educational programs; recruitment practices, strategies, procedures, and effective marketing strategies; policies and objectives of assigned program and activities; modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and filing systems; regional workforce, employment data, and opportunities and resources in the local community.
Ability to: Use patience and tact in working with students and adults; develop and provide group and individual training for students and staff; conduct clerical functions requiring accountability and accurate controls; interpret, apply, and make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; use a computer and related software programs to input, extract, and compile data; independently prepare reports, presentations, and promotional materials; understand and carry out written and verbal instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, local employers, post-secondary partners, and community members; drive a vehicle to conduct work such as visiting job sites and attending regional events and meetings.
