Job Summary
This posting is intended to establish an eligibility pool of applicants for Transitional Kindergarten (TK) openings for the 2023-2024 school year. TK is part of the K-12 public school system and is the first year of a two-year kindergarten program, serving four-year-old-children regardless of income, that uses a modified kindergarten curriculum that is age and developmentally appropriate. Pursuant to Education Code (EC) Section 48000(f), TK programs are intended to be aligned to the California Preschool Learning Foundations developed by the California Department of Education. TK is not considered a preschool program and must be taught by an educator who holds an appropriate credential to teach TK. NOTE: This position is open until filled; however, initial screening will occur on 2/9/23 with first round interviews beginning on 2/23/23.
Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements/Qualifications: Multiple Subject Credentials with EL Authorization/CLAD or appropriate equivalent CA CTC credential and authorization AND At least ONE of the following: 1. At least 24 units in early childhood education (ECE Units), childhood development (CD Units) or both. OR 2. Professional experience in a classroom setting with preschool age children comparable to the 24 units of education described in sub paragraph (A) as determined by the Local Education Agency. [The La Mesa-Spring Valley School District has defined Professional Experience as: Two or more years teaching experience in ECE/Preschool, TK or kindergarten classroom AND a minimum of six (6) units of ECE/CD completed by June 30, 2023, with a commitment to complete additional units to ensure a cumulative total of 12 ECE/CD units by June 30, 2023.] OR 3. A Child Development teacher permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
