<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #800000;"><strong>SUBSTITUTE FAIR APPLICANTS ONLY</strong></span><br />Apply to this posting <span>only</span> if you attended the Substitute Fair on 01/24/2023.</p> <p><br />The San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) serves our county’s most vulnerable students and supports school leaders, teachers, and students across the county.</p> <p>Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS) provide a fully-accredited educational program for school-age youth who are either wards of the court or have been referred by social services, probation, or one of the 42 school districts in San Diego County. Services are provided to incarcerated youth, pregnant minors, foster youth, expelled teens, and chronically truant youth, students in drug treatment centers and group homes for neglected or abused children, and homeless youth.</p> <p>As part of the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the San Diego County Office of Education Special Education department provides a special education program for school-age multi-handicapped students at special education services for students at Juvenile Court and Community Schools throughout San Diego County.</p>

The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to add substitute teachers to our substitute pool. Substitute Teachers will be assigned year-round on an as-needed basis, throughout San Diego County within educational programs operated by the San Diego County Office of Education. If selected and processed as a substitute, candidates may choose areas of San Diego where they would prefer to work.
Please note:
The SDCOE substitute pool is ONLY for SDCOE managed sites (located throughout San Diego County). We do not provide substitute coverage to the various San Diego County school districts and charter schools. If you have questions regarding their substitute hiring processes/getting into their substitute pool, please contact them directly (https://www.sdcoe.net/schools/finder).
This position requires one of the following credentials:
- Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit; or,
- A valid applicable credential as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC)
A Valid California Special Education Credential is preferred for Substitute Teachers in Special Education assignments.

Once your permit is granted, your application will move forward in the application process. If screened in, you will be invited to attend a brief interview. Please be sure to check your email and junk mail for updates.
Please note that your completed online application must include all of the required supplemental documentation attached. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All required California Credentials (if applicable, as issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) must be confirmed prior to employment with SDCOE.
