INSTRUCTIONAL LEADER
The expectation for the Instructional leader (IL)is to provide support for our teachers and instructional staff, assist in curriculum development and implementation, and to monitor student learning and instructional strategies. The IL sets clear goals, manages the curriculum, monitors lesson plans, and evaluates teachers.
The Instructional Leader:
1. Takes leadership in creating healthful human relationships which will provide a suitable environment for teaching and learning.
2. Develops, in conjunction with the school administration and the Iftin School Community, a clear statement of instructional goals and objectives for the school which are consistent with the established educational goals of the Iftin Elementary School Charter.
3. Assists teachers to establish standards of expected progress for individual students in designated areas of study, and techniques for assessment of that progress based on California Standards and the Iftin Elementary School Charter.
4. Oversees curriculum development articulation considering feeder schools, latest research, characteristics of students and faculty, testing programs and official reports.
5. Works cooperative with other Iftin Charter School sites in the development of a coordinated program for seamless progression of students from elementary school through college.
6. Provides for the evaluation of all certificated staff assigned to the school according to Iftin Charter School guidelines.
7. Works with school personnel to implement, assess, and upgrade the instructional program.
8. Provides leadership to certificated staff in the area of professional development.
9. Develops and maintains effective communication systems with staff, students, parents and the community.
10. Orients and provides support to new certificated staff members.
11. Develops, implements, and evaluates procedures with respect to instructional staff.
12. Is responsible for the appropriate utilization of staff and special programs to meet the individual needs of students. i.e. Special education, English Learners, etc.

This position is responsible for the Leadership of the instructional program and assists in student discipline. The applicant for this position should have experience with and enjoy working in a diverse environment, possess a Masters degree in Education, have a minimum of three years teaching experience, possess a Teaching Credential Administrative Credential.
