Job Summary

DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Director I, Division of Human Resource Services (HRS) at the Los Angeles County Office of Education will assist the Chief of Human Resource to provide leadership and coordination for the division and will work closely with the Chief of Human Resource to plan, organize, and manage the development of strategic operational plans for personnel assignments, transfers, employee record management, layoff functions, investigations, and other related activities. The Director I shall direct, manage, and supervise the certificated and classified human resource operational staff; provide direction, monitor, review, and audit personnel management programs and project goals and objectives to ensure compliance with the strategic planning processes; provide human resource information, consultation, training, and dissemination of documentation and materials concerning personnel management programs and project components. The Director I shall implement strategies to ensure budgetary compliance; plan, organize, and develop operational policies, guidelines, and procedures; evaluate the effectiveness of new human resource programs and projects. The Director I shall coordinate, monitor, and review programs and project services to ensure compliance with state and federal legal mandates, regulations, and guidelines; and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience: Five (5) or more years of comprehensive, directly related, and progressive administrative experience. Three (3) years as a site principal or district/county office administrative experience in human resources and personnel management is highly desirable. Education: A Master’s degree in education, personnel administration, or a closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (Must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application): Possess and maintain a valid supervisory or administrative credential. Applicants with credentials not recorded with the Los Angeles County of Education must submit written evidence of appropriate credentials or eligibility.
