Requirements / Qualifications

The Vacancy: There is one full-time, 11 month, open position at a school site. This recruitment will also be used to fill future vacancies and substitute/temporary positions in this classification for up to six months. The Position: Positions allocated to this class are typically assigned to an Assistant Director, Coordinator, Program Specialist, or equivalent level administrator. Positions are usually assigned a wide variety of secretarial and clerical tasks, which require a general knowledge of the District and an extensive knowledge of a specific District-wide office or program. Examples of duties include: Type a variety of correspondence; establish and maintain complex, interrelated filing systems and records; review and check documents, records, and related forms for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to applicable rules and regulations; give out information in person or by telephone where judgment, knowledge, and interpretation of policies, and regulations are necessary; receive visitors, set up appointments, screen visitors and telephone calls, and refer to appropriate staff members.

Required Qualifications: Must have two years of clerical and secretarial experience. Knowledge of: modern office practices and procedures; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; modern filing and indexing methods; principles of letter and report writing; basic methods used in financial and statistical record keeping; organization, functions, rules, procedures, and programs of the department or office where assigned; basic computer skills; office machines and equipment; and must type at a minimum rate of 45 net words per minute. Selection Procedure: The selection process will consist of a written exam and a qualifications appraisal interview (each weighted 50%). The following must be submitted with the edjoin application:

  • Letter of Introduction
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three, no older than a year, signed and dated)
  • Resume
  • Typing Certificate (45 Net WPM)
