This position will require flexible hours including working some evenings and weekends. Working outside of the school day on a regular basis will be required to update student labs.  This individual will report to the Technology Department as well as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction.  The appropriate candidate will have a strong background working with Macintosh computers and experience with Apple deployment and MDMs. Apple Certification, A+, and MCP preferred. This position will be responsible for all CTE hardware and software throughout the district which will require working at multiple sites.  Part of the responsibilities of this position will be to develop and maintain a detailed inventory of all CTE equipment district-wide. This will include technology equipment as well as all equipment purchased with CTE funds (Culinary Arts, Music, Wood Working, etc.)

JOB TITLE: System Support Technician III

Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of “System Support Technician III” is done for the purpose/s of providing technical support, assisting the Director of Technology in the implementation of the district technology plan; installing, operating, and diagnosing computer systems and local area networks; providing users with advanced training and technical assistance, and perform related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

• Provides technical support and user assistance to district personnel for the purpose of expanding computer literacy and enhancing the job performance of others.

• Visits various sites and offices for the purpose of providing advanced training, identifying equipment problems and installing new and replacement equipment.

• Performs technical repair and maintenance of computers and related equipment for the purpose of ensuring properly functioning systems.

• Maintains computer hardware, software and systems for the purpose of providing properly functioning systems to the district and its employees.

• Diagnoses problems and malfunctions for the purpose of resolving problems.

• Implements the replacement of parts and accessories for the purpose of maintaining reliable equipment and systems.

Other Job Functions:

• Participates in various activities (e.g. meetings, training, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining skill level and receiving and/or conveying information.

Essential Job Requirements - Qualifications:

• Experience Required:

Six years computer industry experience, three computer industry recognized certifications or equivalent training; any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.

• Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:

Skill to use various types of electronic test equipment and diagnostic software; use English in both written and verbal form, use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.

Knowledge of microcomputer applications, operations and peripheral equipment including DOS/Windows and Macintosh; electronic and electrical theory, principles and practices; methods, tools and procedures used in the installation, repair and maintenance of microcomputers, local area networks and peripheral equipment; methods and procedures for storing equipment, material and supplies; safety practices and precautions.

Ability to perform skilled maintenance work on a variety of microcomputer systems and peripheral equipment; to solve routine to moderately complex problems with hardware and software; train others and provide technical support; learn and effectively use software specific to district needs; schedule and perform work to meet established time lines; work independently with minimal supervision; establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others; and communicate effectively with others. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/kneeling/crouching, reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations and other sounds, near/far visual acuity.

• Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:

Valid California Driver’s License, Computer Training Certificates, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Health Physical Examination, Tuberculosis Testing/Clearance.
