TESTING INFORMATION Qualified applicants who successfully pass the application paper screening phase will be notified by mail and scheduled for written and performance testing on future dates to be determined. After successfully passing the written and performance testing phases, applicants will then be notified and scheduled for an oral interview. If you have previously passed the required tests for this position, you will not need to test by providing proof.
Definition Under supervision, to perform a variety of clerical work of moderate difficulty; to operate a typewriter and/or computer at a skilled level; to have a high level of public contact; and to perform related work as required. Examples of Duties Answer telephones, take messages, and transfer calls; answer a variety of routine questions; and greet and direct public and employees; take messages for staff. Keyboard letters, memos, reports, forms, bulletins, lists, labels, and similar documents. Operate office equipment such as photocopier, fax machine, calculator, computer and keyboard, typewriter, and related equipment. REQUIREMENTS: • A typical qualifying entrance background is one year of clerical working experience. • Completion of High School or G.E.D. equivalent. • Submit with your application a typing certificate for 45 wpm on a 5-minute timed test from an accredited agency (online or internet testing will not be accepted). • Successfully pass the Garvey School District Office Assistant Written Test. • Completion of a Criminal Records Check is required prior to beginning work. HIGHLY DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : • Bilingual in English and in one or more of the following languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish or Vietnamese • Computer Knowledge. • Course work or training in basic office automation practices and word processing.
