
Nurse Instructor - Poway Adult Education: Part-Time, (Friday and Saturday - Hourly) at Poway Unified School District

Friday evenings 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Saturdays 7:30 am - 4:00 pm 15 weeks per semester, 1-2 Semesters per year There may be an option to co-teach for a reduced schedule. 2 Openings Requirements for the Position: Nurse Teachers should be willing to apply for the Preliminary Teaching Credential upon hiring and begin the credential process after teaching one cohort. LVN and RN teachers instruct and oversee adult students in nurse assistant theory and clinical experiences. RN teachers also provide program assistance and sign completion forms. Assist in delivering Theory instruction using multiple methods, accelerated learning strategies and 21st Century technology skills which includes teaching theory via Zoom Ensure documentation of all requirements for each individual student by keeping accurate attendance, learning outcome data and performance assessment data Encourage and provide opportunities and resources for students who experience barriers to achieving goals and successful outcomes. Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the Adult School and District. Build and maintain employer relationships and participate in community-school relations as needed.
Requirements / Qualifications
1. LVN or RN active California license 2. A letter of introduction, completed PUSD Poway Adult School application, college transcripts 3. Current resume showing verifiable work experience. Must include work experience in month/year to month/year format, name and address of each employer, job duties, contact telephone number for human resources or administration, and name of supervisor (CDPH requirement) 4. Two signed letters of recommendation dated within the past twelve months (one from your current supervisor or immediately preceding supervisor) 5. A completed California Department of Public Health eLearning Instructor Application 6. A desire to teach and ability and willingness to be credentialed 7. Each instructor must be approved by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) prior to providing training. The requirements for CDPH approval are: · Two (2) years of nursing experience (RN, LVN). o One (1) of the two years must be as a licensed nurse providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting. o AND one of the following: One (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing. OR Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing (submit course certificate or transcript) completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program. Courses must be approved by the Board of Registered Nursing or administered by an accredited educational institution.
