OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Assists the teacher in a variety of activities including organizing and maintenance of materials and equipment, instructing and assisting students, maintaining records and monitoring activities and assignments.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assists PE teachers in the supervision and instruction of students in physical education classes.
2. Organizes and directs students' outdoor and indoor PE activities under the direction of a PE teacher.
3. Moves from site to site on a daily rotation with PE teachers as assigned.
4. Demonstrates and leads exercises, physical activities, or games for students during class periods.
5. Provides and/or reinforces instruction to individual students and groups of students as directed.
6. Assists in implementing Individual Educational Plan goals.
7. Monitors student assignments.
8.Assists with the maintenance of student records, student progress, and assists in the organization, maintenance, and inventory of physical education equipment.
9.Assists in administering and monitoring of student assessment and progress.
10.Becomes familiar with physical education instructional materials and appropriate assessment tools.
11. Support and assist in the enforcement of classroom, school
and district rules.
12. Maintains good public relations with students, parents,
staff, and community.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
General principles of child growth and development; organization and management of large and small groups of students; basic English usage and math skills; general office machines.
Ability to:
Communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; pass Proficiency Test; operate office machines; learn quickly the subject areas taught in specific assignment(s); understand and implement oral and written directions in English; sustain vigorous physical activity for extended periods of time.
Experience
One year experience working with school age students.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Supervision
Under general supervision, reports to the P.E. teacher.
Receives direction and assistance from assigned certificated
staff member(s).

Title I paraprofessionals whose duties include instructional support must have: 1. High school diploma or the equivalent, AND 2. Two years of college (48 units), or 3. A. A. degree (or higher), or 4. Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction.
