Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to:
- Possession of a high school diploma or its GED equivalent AND at least 48 college semester units earned at an accredited institution of higher learning
- Possession of a high school diploma or its GED equivalent AND possession of a degree earned at an accredited institution of higher learning
- Possession of a high school diploma or its GED equivalent AND the ability to obtain a passing score on the County Office of Education Paraprofessional Examination
EDUCATION:
Candidates must meet one of the three Options:
Option 1:EXPERIENCE:
Paid or volunteer experience working with or serving individuals with exceptional needs or behavioral deficits is preferred.
Please note: If you were educated outside of the US, you must have your foreign transcripts evaluated by an approved agency prior to being invited to the written exam. THE POSITION
The Educational Services Division is currently accepting applications for Paraeducator - Special Education.
The Paraeducator - Special Education assists teachers and/or other certificated personnel by performing a variety of instructional support duties for individual or small groups of Special Education pupils in a classroom or resource environment encompassing a range of physical, emotional, intellectual, and communication disabilities for severely and non-severely handicapped pupils; assists in the establishment and maintenance of appropriate classroom and site behavior; and performs a routine of clerical tasks as assigned.
This position typically has a work year of 11 months, 193 days, 6 hours/day.

- Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings.
- Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
- The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, scheduled throughout the month.
- Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, scheduled throughout the month.
