Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Parent Education Director and Superintendent, The Family and Community School Assistant serves as a resource for families on the programs and services available through the school and community, as well as school and/or district activities and procedures. In addition, the Community School Assistant refers families to community agencies, works with community agencies to bring on-site resources, and supports ongoing activities within the district parent resource center to foster an ongoing partnership between the home, school, and community. REPORTS TO: Director of Parent Education & Resource Center and Superintendent TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: • 200 work days contracted • Hours may vary by annual program description • Classified- Confidential Salary Schedule • Continued employment contingent upon receiving CCSP Funds REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: • Procedures, methods, techniques, and strategies utilized in the development of school and community liaison processes • Methods, techniques, and strategies utilized in dealing with sensitive school and community problems, issues and concerns. • English and a second language, as required by the assignment, at least sufficient to fulfill the duties to be performed; (Spanish preferred) • Basic arithmetic concepts; • Perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of education and office-related machines and equipment; • Comply with appropriate cleanliness standards, health, and dress codes. Ability to: • Communicate effectively in oral and written form in English and a second language, as required by the assignment. Spanish preferred • Schedule and facilitate activities, meetings, and/or events related to family engagement • Gather, collate, and/or classify data • Use basic, job-related equipment including phone, computer, fax, etc • Work with others in a wide variety of circumstances • Work and communicate with diverse groups, including school staff,
Requirements / Qualifications
Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
All positions require proof of completion of the 12th grade or equivalent (ie. high school diploma, high school transcript, GED.)
