Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide support for students with special needs and circumstances, in the general education classroom. Will design interventions for academic, behavioral, and social support. Collaborate with and assist implementation of interventions and evaluate effectiveness.

Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide support for students with special needs and circumstances, in the general education classroom. Will design interventions for academic, behavioral, and social support. Collaborate with and assist implementation of interventions and evaluate effectiveness.

(1)          Able to communicate IEP goals to parents, general education teachers, and student when appropriate. Attend IEP meetings with teachers and parents.

(2)          Write 504 plans for students in intermediate and middle school.

(3)          Collaborate with and support general education teachers in identifying students who experience academic and/or behavior challenges.  

(4)          Will participate as a member of the SST Committee.

(5)          Consult with teachers about students who do not have a formal diagnosis.

(6)          Identifies and recommends accommodations and modifications to give students and their peers access to the curriculum in a general education setting.

(7)          Maintain clear and organized documentation on each student within the caseload.

(8)          Observe students prior to making accommodations and collaborating with parents

(9)          Maintain open communication with teachers regarding student progress.

(10)        Maintain appropriate level of confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

(1)          Teaching Credential preferred; minimum Bachelors Degree

(2)          Experience working with students who have diverse learning styles and needs. These needs include but are not limited to:

  1. ASD: Must have knowledge of best practices, methods, and techniques
  2. Dyslexia: Must have knowledge of strategies
  3. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) concepts

(3)          Extensive knowledge of strategies to support students with learning disabilities and behavior struggles

(4)          General knowledge of assessment procedures

(5)          Willingness to enhance skills via in-house and outside instruction

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum education required - Bachelor's Degree in Education Current credential a plus, but not required

Credential from state other than California acceptable.
