Job Summary

We are looking for a dynamic, committed, flexible and fun nurse to complete our nursing team. You will feel supported, valued and look forward to coming to work every day. The open position on our team is for a full-time registered nurse for our lower school, serving 620 students in grades K – 5. The lower school nurse works in the health office, providing direct care for both students and employees. The nurse will evaluate, treat, and medicate sick or injured students and coordinate care with parents, teachers and counselors. Primary Responsibilities • Assess and treat student and colleague health concerns • Coordinate, oversee and administer COVID-19 testing • Liaise between internal constituents: Colleagues, students, parents and families • Liaise between external constituents: Santa Clara and California Departments of Public Health and students’ physicians • Oversee operations of the Health Office, including health form compliance and COVID-19 protocols • Communicate calmly, compassionately and professionally with parents and families regarding health-related issues • Collect, update and maintain health information on students in Magnus Health • Ensure all students are compliant and up-to-date with required immunizations • Medicate students using over-the-counter medications in accordance with the parents’ written permission • Collaborate and consult with colleagues as necessary on matters concerning health and safety • Work under the direction of the Director of Health Services and work as a team with her/him, the school nurses at upper and middle school and our substitute school nurses

Requirements / Qualifications

• Current, clean and active license as a Registered Nurse in California • A bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred • Ability to communicate with age-appropriate language for children aged 5-11 • Current CPR certification • Effective organizational skills with careful attention to accuracy and detail • A passion for working with students and their families within a vibrant and diverse community • Strong work ethic and initiative • Able to calmly triage and assess students in a fast-paced environment • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Mature judgement and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure
