Welcome to the Santa Maria-Bonita School District website. We are the largest school district in Santa Barbara County with about 17,500 pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade students. BASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of the Superintendent, serve as a confidential secretary and administrative liaison and perform highly responsible and confidential secretarial and administrative assistant duties to relieve the Superintendent and Executive Assistant of a variety of administrative details; coordinate communications and information; interpret policies and regulations to officials, staff and the public. Assist Executive Assistant in performing highly complex, technical, and confidential secretarial and administrative clerical functions. Serve as a liaison between Superintendent office and for non-English speaking parents, and community groups.
Requirements / Qualifications
All of the following documents are required for this position: -- Any combination equivalent to an Associate's or higher degree in public administration, organizational management, or public relations and three years of increasingly responsible secretarial, administrative aide, or community liaison experience. (7 years of increasingly responsible secretarial, administrative aide, or community liaison experience may be considered in place of an Associate degree. (Mandatory) -- Resume (Mandatory) -- Typing Certificate, 60 net words per minute, no more than 5 errors, 5-minute typing test, dated within the last 6 months. (Mandatory) The Santa Maria-Bonita School District (SMBSD) does not accept typing tests that have been taken online. A valid certificate is one that has been obtained from an employment agency or community college. The certificate will be considered valid when the following items are indicated on the typing certificate: 1) Minimum 5-minute typing test 2) Documentation of Gross Words Per Minute (GWPM) minus errors (subtract one word per error from GWPM) equals Net Words Per Minute (NWPM). Five (5) errors or less. 3) Date the test was administered (must be within the last six months) 4) Signature of the test proctor on agency form/letterhead 5) Online typing tests are not acceptable
