POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals for a part-time position in the Nutrition Services Department to perform moderate level food service skills, assisting in food preparation, serving, cashiering, and inventory or cooking, distribution, and catering tasks. The Food Service Assistant II class is typically assigned either to a primary lead role at an elementary school site, a secondary lead role at a middle/jr. high school site supporting the Food Service Assistant III, or the Nutrition Center supporting the more specialized cooking and food preparation functions. There are multiple anticipated openings which include the Central Kitchen, Elementary, and Middle/Junior High School sites working a range of hours, generally between 1.5-2.5 hours daily, 9.5-months/year, Monday through Friday, but we will also be establishing an eligibility list for any potential future openings that may come up during the life of the list. These positions come with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation, and the District offers employees assigned to work more than 20 hours/week a comprehensive prorated benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision and life insurance. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Experience: Any combination of experience and training which would indicate possession of the knowledge and abilities listed, including at least two years of paid experience working in school cafeterias and/or preparing and serving food. One year of successful experience as a Food Service Assistant I with Fullerton School District can be substituted for the above mentioned two year experience requirement. Licensure and Certification: -Valid Class C California Driver's License required -Food Handlers Card required within 30 days of hire -Food Manager's Certificate required within 6 months of hire
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
