Job Summary
This position will be assigned to the County Office of Education and the outlying sites: The primary purpose of the Maintenance Department is to maintain a facility that functions effectively and provides a clean, safe and healthy environment for staff, students and visitors. Perform a variety of duties involved in the care and cleaning of assigned buildings and facilities; to perform a variety of grounds keeping functions; and to perform a variety of semi-skilled work in several areas of the building trades.

Education and Experience: Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. One year of experience in the care and cleaning of buildings, facilities and grounds. License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Essential duties require the following skills and work environment: Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, twist, climb and lift 70 lbs. Exposure to outdoors, confining work space, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
Application Procedures: This is an on-call/temporary position. Applications will be continuously screened and qualified applicants will be invited to complete a written examination and interview. If selected, fingerprinting is required. You will need to supply our office with a negative (tuberculosis) PPD skin test clearance. The certificate is good for a four-year period. You can have the test done through the Santa Cruz Health Department, Doctors on Duty Clinic or by calling a physician or a clinic of your choice.
