PREREQUISITES A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school or related fields. Experience working with students in an occupational therapy or educational setting preferred. Valid California Board of Occupational Therapy License Valid first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificates Complete District’s training on universal precautions Valid California Driver’s License

Candidate to be responsible for preventive measures that include observing and informally interacting with students in the classroom as required. Informally assess learning environments as it relates to communication and develop optimal learning opportunities and/or participation. Work with general/special education teachers and other service providers to create language programs and expressive language in the natural setting. work with parents regarding the development of language/communication programs including recommendations for home support of school goals. Responsible for assessment that includes conducting informal/formal speech and language assessments and writing reports in accordance with district, state and federal requirements. These include utilizing assessment tools with a variety of techniques that are functional and curriculum based. Completing all assessment following within mandated timelines. Following the OUSD report format guidelines and timelines. Making specific recommendations to the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team based on the findings of the student's assessment, the core curriculum and board standards. Attending required IEP meetings for all students remcommended to be serviced for speech and Language therapy. Various styles of delivery include consultation, one to one, small group, and whole class instruction within the general/special education classroom. Compliance with IEP and IDEA regulation.
