Job Summary
Under general direction of a Librarian, Media Center Teacher, or other certificated staff assigned to supervise a school library, or a site administrator in an elementary or small secondary school, the School Library Technician I performs specialized library clerical and technical tasks related to the acquisition, processing, circulation, cataloging, maintenance, disposition, and record keeping for library media materials. This recruitment will be used to establish an Eligibility List for the current School Library Technician I vacancy as well as any future vacancies. This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended.
Requirements / Qualifications
The following 10-month position is currently available: Innovation Middle School (Area C) : 10 hours per week Position Schedule (for any future vacancies): Set schedules for positions in this classification might vary but are typically 10-40 hrs per week. Positions greater than 20 hours per week qualify for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employees and dependents. This is a promotional/open opportunity, which means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list. For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2, Section 9). OTBS Salary Grade: 028
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to possession of a certificate of completion as a library technician from a two-year community college program. One year of school or public library clerical experience supplemented by formal, directly related coursework may be substituted for possession of the certificate.
