THE POSITION: The Senior Program Specialist, Comprehensive Health Education, under the direction of the Physical Education and Comprehensive Health and Nutrition and Wellness unit lead(s), will provide technical, consultative, advisory, and planning services for comprehensive health education and wellness programs developed using the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) model to support, plan, organize, and evaluate programs, processes, and procedures designed to improve learning and health; plan, support, and conduct professional learning opportunities for LEA administrators and staff, assist in the development and selection of appropriate health education and wellness promotion materials; serve as a resource to internal and external partners, such as Local Education Agencies (LEAs), county offices of education, community organizations, government agencies, parents, students, and/or staff in the area of specialization, and perform other work as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Possess and maintain a valid California motor vehicle operator’s license and have available private transportation. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Any combination of education and experience that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience: Three or more years of teaching in Health Education in an educational setting. Experience delivering professional learning and/or training adult learners. Leadership experience is highly desirable. Education: A Bachelor’s degree and appropriate teaching credentials from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. A Master’s degree is preferred. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE (must attach a detailed certification/credential with document number to application): A qualified candidate must possess and maintain a valid California Single Subject Credential in Health, or Health education specialist, or Science, or a Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential in Health Science and Medical Technology, or a Multiple Subject Credential with substantial training and experience in health education, or a related field.
