Job Summary

Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Transportation, organize and conduct classroom, behind-the-wheel and in-service training for new and current school bus drivers; maintain current knowledge of California Highway Patrol 82.7 rules and regulations; coordinate school bus safety and bus evacuation drill programs for students; assist in planning school bus routes and schedules; dispatch drivers on new assignments; schedule drivers for field trips and athletic/activity trips; drive a school bus on an as-needed basis.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school Additional course work in transportation services is preferred Three years of experience in driving a school bus Up to three years of experience in dispatching, scheduling routes and providing training for bus drivers is preferred LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Class B California Motor Vehicle Operator’s License Must possess a valid California School Bus Certificate issued by the California Highway Patrol Current First Aid Certificate issued by any organization approved by the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) or equivalent issued by the California Highway Patrol Certification by the California Department of Education as a School Bus Driver Trainer Must be able to be insured by the District’s general liability insurance provider
