POSITION SCOPE: The AfterSchool Recreation Program Aide is responsible for monitoring and supporting elementary students grades PreK-6 in after care programming and for the development and implementation of fun activities for their learning and growth. This is a part-time position of approximately 18 hours per week. The ideal candidate will: Be an exceptional, caring educator who is up-to-date on best practices in education and child development Have the ability to inspire and motivate young children Have exceptional social emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills and the ability to teach and lead with empathy Be excited to work in partnership with parents to support student learning and developmental growth Have exceptional multi-cultural competency skills in order to create a diversity responsive learning environment and to work effectively with a range of students and families from diverse backgrounds Show flexibility and be an independent problem-solver Take initiative and possess the ability to create, innovate, and implement action Be a good listener and mentor, setting high expectations while supporting students in achieving their goals Be an exemplary role model to students and faculty alike Have a positive attitude and an enthusiastic outlook and possess a growth mindset Have a good balance of visionary ideas and practical solutions ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Engage students ages 4-12 in activities that promote social and emotional learning, intellectual and physical development Organize and lead rotations and playtime for elementary students Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students while on the outdoor yard or inside the classrooms.
