SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Plans and carries out a program for classes within the framework of the curriculum; administers student and environmental assessments, designs and provides an integrated classroom curriculum; attends professional workshops, in-service training and meetings to promote professional growth; records pertinent information on children under direct supervision; organizes and participates in field trips; conducts parent-teacher conferences; directs activities of a teacher aide; performs related duties as required.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
- Conducts supervision and instruction to preschool age children in a classroom or other learning environment.
- Provide children with proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance; assist the teacher with the development and implementation of classroom activities.
- Conduct individual and small groups of children with projects and assignments;
- Observe and control behavior of students in the classroom and during outdoor activities according to approved procedures; administer the Desired Results Developmental Profile Assessment (DRDP), administer Devereux Early Childhood Assessment (DECA), administer Literacy Results Assessments of student skills and progress and report progress regarding child performance and behavior.
- Perform a variety of clerical duties in support of classroom activities such as preparing, typing, duplicating and filing instructional materials; log students in and out of classroom as directed; maintain student files as assigned.
- Assure the health and safety of students by following established practices and procedures; maintain learning environment in a safe, orderly and clean manner; clean, set up, and set out toys and instructional materials; perform light housekeeping duties including washing dishes, clearing lunch tables and sweeping floors as assigned.
- Assist with snack and lunch time as assigned; prepare snacks; set up and clean eating areas; assist with washing children's hands and faces after play times and meals as needed; assist children with toileting as needed.
- Attend assigned meetings, conferences and in-services.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Possession of a Child Development Teacher Permit. - Associate of Arts Degree, including 60-semester units required. - Two years of experience is preferred and fluency in Spanish is desirable. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance, a tuberculosis clearance, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination status. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions for the district. Unlike other learning centers, the Office of Child Development is staffed by credentialed educators who use a multitude of instructional strategies to respond to students’ diverse needs.
