The program serves students with disabilities attending school while being detained in juvenile facilities, on probation, or under the jurisdiction of the Health and Human Services Agency. The JCCS Special Education Program provides identification, assessment and instruction to students with disabilities in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations governing special education.</p> <p>The San Diego County Office of Education offers a highly competitive benefits package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and vision coverage. Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field (preferred) and experience in the development and writing of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) that meet legal requirements, assessment procedures, and adherence to federal and state regulations for students with disabilities. Experience in providing instruction in urban settings, working with a diverse student population, multicultural instructional methods, and strong behavior intervention and classroom management skills. CREDENTIALS, CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid Education Specialist teaching credential with an authorization in Mild/Moderate issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing; or equivalent document. Valid English Learner authorization (CLAD or equivalent document). Valid California Driver's License CPR and First Aid certification are highly desirable. *Note: Valid California credentials must be obtained upon hire. You may go to the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing website https://www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/out-of-state-app for details on meeting California’s requirements.
