This position is distinguished from other positions by involvement with families and students in the rendering of assistance to help families resolve issues and problems, which relate to the ability of the school to serve students and parents. Although many of the home contacts are of routine nature, assignments in this position include providing community information to families about school and community resources and attempting to get families involved in school programs and activities. School/Community Liaisons will assist families in communicating with District personnel regarding non-school related issues that affect student achievement. Incumbents must be able to furnish their own car and be willing to drive in the performance of their work. Knowledge of: General needs and behavior patterns of children; Correct English and Spanish usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; operating of standard office equipment; Practical principles of multi-cultural relationships and communication techniques; Community resources related to children and parental needs; Local school district and its educational goals and objectives.

The Baldwin Park Unified School District is recruiting for School Community Liaison. Under the immediate supervision of the site's administrator, the employee will provide communication between the school and the home for the improvement of student achievement and parent involvement. The employee will perform clerical and paraprofessional responsibilities related to parent involvement. The employee will also provide assistance on school-related issues and do related work as may be required. For a full description of the duties assigned, please review the job description. Baldwin Park Unified School District offers an exceptional benefits package (medical, dental, vision, and membership in the CalPERS retirement system).

The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, pass the Districts proficiency exams, and interviews. The Human Resources Department will contact all applicants once the selection process has been finalized. IMPORTANT DATES: Emails will be sent to all applicants and only qualified applicants will be given exam, and interview information. Exam Date: TBD Interview Date: TBD MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, successful completion of the District instructional aide examination, and possession of the knowledge and abilities listed above. REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES Possess a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License and validation of insurability. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS Applicants must successfully pass the bilingual skill test administered by the District.
