The Student Services and Student Affairs departments of the Long Beach Community College District are seeking qualified individuals for an opportunity as an Outreach & Recruitment Specialist. You will need to have knowledge of student recruitment and retention strategies and techniques, and principles and procedures used in community college for outreach and student success. We are looking for candidates who have graduated from an accredited two-year college with an associate degree. This candidate engages on a regular basis with students providing individual and group support services. The candidate should be student-centered and customer service oriented. Additionally, we prefer candidates have two years of experience working in an educational setting with a diverse student population; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. LBCC is recruiting for four Outreach and Recruitment positions as follows: 1) First Year Experience (FYE) and Male Success Initiative (MSI) Programs, 2) High School Outreach and Matriculation, 3) Basic Needs Program, and 4) Justice Scholars Program.

 

• The FYE/MSI ORS will support all incoming college promise students throughout first year at the college. This role will also support the Male Success Initiative.

 

• The High School Outreach and Matriculation will support the recruitment of high school students and onboarding them to the college.

 

• The Basic Needs ORS will support students with basic needs insecurities such as housing, food, and transportation.

 

• The Justice Scholars Program ORS will support formerly incarcerated, and systems impacted students.

Salary: Range 27 - $4358.27 - $5361.53 / Monthly

Duties

 

GENERAL PURPOSE

 

The FYE/MSI ORS will work under the supervision of the Director of Title V and First-Year Experience Programs. The High School Outreach and Matriculation ORS will work under the supervision of the Director of Student Outreach and Recruitment. The Basic Needs ORS will work under the supervision of the Basic Needs Manager. The Justice Scholars Program ORS will work under the supervision of the Systems Impacted Manager.

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

 

Education, Training and Experience:

 

• A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from an accredited two-year college with an Associate's degree and two years of progressively responsible experience working in an educational setting with a diverse student population; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.

• Bilingual in Spanish is desirable.

 

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy.

 

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
