Job Summary

The job of Counselor is to provide a comprehensive counseling and guidance program for at-risk students enrolled in the Alameda County Office of Education Court Schools to address academic, career, social/emotional and/or behavioral needs, as assigned. The Counselor will administer and support student service programs and student referral services. They will consult and collaborate with administrators, teachers, parents, outside agencies and support staff to enhance students’ ability to meet academic and behavioral standards so that they can successfully transition to their next educational choice. The position will provide services to students at Alameda County Office of Education’s Court Schools and the Alameda County Transition Center located at the Juvenile Justice Center (JJC). The Counselor reports to the Assigned Administrator.

Requirements / Qualifications

Credential: California Pupil Personnel Services with an emphasis in school counseling, or other valid California credential with an authorization in school counseling. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Four (4) years counseling desired, preferably two (2) years with youth in alternative school settings and demonstrated experience with teens. - Master’s degree from an accredited College/University in psychology, counseling and guidance or a closely related field is desired. - CPR and First Aid certificate required. - Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
