About Pathway to Teaching at SFUSD Pathway to Teaching is an equity-centered and social justice-oriented teacher education program. We are a one-year teacher credentialing program that operates inside of SFUSD. We are dedicated to meeting the need for impactful teachers by increasing the number of teachers of color in San Francisco. Pathway teachers begin their preparation with a seven-week summer pre-service preparation program, complete with fieldwork, coaching, and courses in content and pedagogy. At the start of the school year, they begin teaching as intern teachers in their own SFUSD classroom, supported by a Pathway coach who provides real-time feedback to help teachers quickly improve their practice. Over the course of their Pathway intern year, Pathway teachers also complete credential coursework and state testing requirements to become eligible for a preliminary teaching credential in one year.
