Job Summary
Perform a variety of skilled activities in the installation, maintenance and repair of District buildings, facilities and equipment including tasks requiring the knowledge of one or more skilled trades such as electrical, or plumbing; perform semi-skilled, and unskilled work in other building trades; maintain facilities for students, staff and public in safe and operating condition; maintain preventive maintenance programs.
Requirements / Qualifications
Carpenter Perform journey-level carpentry work in the maintenance, repair, construction, alteration, forming, framing and finishing of buildings, furniture and facilities; ensure compliance with building, health and safety laws, codes, regulations and standards. Develop and implement carpentry construction, maintenance, repair and enhancement projects. Perform the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of woodwork including cabinets, counters, handrails, bookcases, shelves, doors, window frames and furniture; match materials with color, grain or texture; repair and replace cabinet hardware; repair and maintain building and facility roofing as required. Build partitions; construct walls using paneling and other decorative materials; install, replace and repair partitions, ceilings and other items; cut, fit, and hang doors; install and repair drywall. Dig holes, pour cement, install new posts in the ground. Operate a variety of specialized equipment including saws, drills, presses and various hand and power tools. Education and Experience: Any combination of training, education, and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above, and the ability to perform the duties of the position. Education: Graduation from high school supplemented by completion of an approved apprenticeship program in the assigned building trade. Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible journey-level experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of an assigned building trade License(s), certifications or other requirements: • Valid California Class C driver’s license.
