The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The North Orange County SELPA and member local education agencies (LEAs) foster coordination between general and special education for prevention and early intervention of suspected disabilities. The SELPA also ensures appropriate education services for individuals with disabilities by working cooperatively with other public and private agencies to support a full complement of special education services for students. The Orange County Department of Education is the Administrative Unit for the North Orange County SELPA. The North Orange County SELPA is recruiting for a dynamic professional educator to serve as a Teacher for our D/HH Program. The selected candidate will be a contributing member of the IEP team and provide services to students within the North Orange County SELPA.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Recent experience working in a public school setting with students who are deaf or hard of hearing. • Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university. • ASL preferred.
Licenses, Certificates, Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students. • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov. • English Learner (EL) Authorization: All new teachers hired under a Preliminary or Clear credential must possess an authorization to provide instruction for English language development (ELD) and specially designed academic instruction delivered in English (SDAIE) to English learners. Appropriate credentials include Education Specialist Instructional Credential with English learner authorization; CLAD (Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development) or BCLAD (Bilingual Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development) authorizations; or Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (AB2913/SB395 training).
