Salary Range: $6,105 - $7,505 per month

This position is specifically for the Delta Market and would require consistent on-site work on weekends.
DESCRIPTION
Oversee and lead the on-site daily operations of one of the functional areas (Bookstore, Food Service or Weekend Market) within Auxiliary Services. Performs a variety of complex and technical tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
• Receives general direction from an assigned supervisor.
• May exercise functional and technical oversight over lower-level Auxiliary Services staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
• Assist the Assistant Director in leading, planning, and organizing the onsite daily operations of assigned area.
• Collaborate and partner with Auxiliary Services leads and Auxiliary Services Management to assure compliance with District, State and Federal laws, rules, and regulations.
• Oversee, train, schedule and review the work of assigned Auxiliary Services staff. Ensure standard operating procedures are reviewed and updated annually for assigned area.
• Assist to develop and implement short and long-term plans and activities including cost savings and revenue generating programs for assigned operations.
• Monitor point-of-sale reports daily to ensure profitability of assigned operations; analyze sales results, operating statements, and cash reports and make adjustments, as required, to store pricing policy.
• Direct and oversee the use of hardware and software networks and inventory management systems with modules that may include textbook/merchandise purchasing, accounting, shipping, receiving, book buyback, food sales and other point-of-sale systems for electronic banking transactions; work with hardware and software providers to implement new applications or install updates as required; provide staff access information; schedule training for staff, as needed
• Assess the needs for all resale and supply products and services in the assigned area; research products and services and negotiate pricing, quality, and delivery; ensure new products, services, and designs are constantly updated; generate purchase orders and set pricing for resale.
• Control and purchase inventory and merchandise; determine quantities and types of merchandise to be purchased, stock; accordingly, evaluate sales histories, stock on hand, student enrollment and other pertinent data.
• Control assigned area’s inventory; determine which inventory items and merchandise to return to supplier.
• Follow vendor return policies with attention to deadlines and/or restricted policies.
• Search for and takes advantage of all promotional discounts offered by vendors to maximize assigned area’s profit margins.
• Maintain contact with sales representatives that may include book publishers, textbook wholesalers, merchandise vendors, flea market vendors, food vendors, and service providers.
• Organize and oversee annual and periodic physical inventories.
• Plan and coordinate advertising, displays, and selling of merchandise in assigned area.
• Develop, coordinate, and monitor business partnerships with District departments and businesses, including Athletics, EOPS, Amazon, and Verba; track sales and ensure that profit distributions are transparent and properly recorded.
• Serve as the primary contact for third party software applications and District interface providers; analyze problems and communicate with providers and Auxiliary Services management; maintain communication to resolve issues.
• Participate in professional growth activities to keep current in the field.
• Collaborate with other Auxiliary Services Leads and Auxiliary Services Management to review product and service contracts for pricing, quality of service, and commission rates (if applicable).
• Research and recommend new policies, procedures, and technologies to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
• Monitor cash variances daily; make deposits and report any variances to assigned supervisor; ensure adequate and accurate records.
• Review assigned area’s purchase orders and invoices; reconcile and generate various financial reports and documents for assigned supervisor’s approval and as required by Fiscal Services.
• Address and respond to customer complaints and issues, demonstrating superior customer service.
• Perform other related duties as directed.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Education:
• Associate degree from an accredited institution of higher education with major coursework in business administration or a related field.
Experience:
• Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in retail operations preferably in a bookstore or food service with at least one in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
