JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent and or designee, is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and administration of all district information technology systems. Provides leadership and direction for all aspects of the District’s information technology services that will aid in providing the highest quality education programs and services to students.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and Application of:             

Planning, organization, and direction of current enterprise-level information technology systems and applications. Installation, maintenance, and monitoring of information systems and applications including but not limited to enterprise networking, Wireless networks, VOIP, Video security systems, Virtual Machines, VPN Solutions, enterprise server applications, firewalls and SSO (Single Sign On) Solutions.

Ability to:    

  • Ability to make fiscally responsible decisions.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
  • Coordinate, develop, install, and maintain a variety of software, hardware, and information systems / applications.
  • Work cooperatively with district staff, students, parents, and other public agencies.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action
  • Analyze, review and performance monitor information technology systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THIS POSITION

May include, but not limited to:

  • Assists in the development of the technology budget.
  • Develop procedures and security measures to ensure the validity and security of the district’s information systems and applications.
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction to the District for information technology ensuring that the information systems infrastructure effectively supports the District’s vision and strategic plan.
  • Recommend policy and management decisions related to computer workstations, curriculum integration, software, security, and other related technology.
  • Coordinates the District Category I & II E-Rate Applications, District Category II Budget and 5-year plans for Category II funding.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all projects related to the selection, acquisition, development, and installation of information systems and applications.
  • Review appropriate District Policies, legislation, and Board Policies to ensure technology activities are performed in compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Provides effective leadership, coaching, professional learning, and development for IT Professionals.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for Information Technology staff’s performance, customer service, and support.
  • Collaborate with site leaders, teachers, and district support staff to determine technologies to be enhanced, supplemented, or optimized using current or emerging information technology systems to assist in educating students at a high level.
  • Coordinates technology integrations and/or data uploads for digital curriculum, district communication applications, state reporting systems and other digital platforms.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is desirable

Combined education, training and experience equivalent to five (5) years of progressively responsible computerized data system management and/or computer science, preferably within a school district is also desirable

Demonstrated experience in system maintenance, software applications, business office practices, inventory, and distribution procedures

Completion of relevant certifications such as CCNA, Security+, Google and Microsoft

Experience in technology systems in the public sector, preferably a K-12 school system

Valid California Driver’s license



SALARY: Classified Management, Range 3
