As the 0991 Manager, Civil Service Staffing, you will report to the Director, Civil Service and Paraeducator Staffing and will support the district’s efforts to ensure effective hiring of all District Classified staff. We want someone with a critical eye towards systematic improvements who is excited to lead a team and who brings human resource generalist skills and experience to SFUSD. We expect our 0991 Manager, Civil Service Staffing to: Lead our Civil Service team in the performance of professional personnel activities in the areas of civil service classified recruitment, examinations and classifications. Ensure the strategic direction and oversight of key initiatives that improve data integrity, analysis and customer service related to Civil service employees Provide technical/professional assistance on joint San Francisco City and San Francisco Unified School District Civil Service hiring processes to team direct reports, HR colleagues, school sites, department heads, and labor representatives Conduct investigations and surveys concerning the duties, responsibilities and qualifications of Classified Civil Service positions Supervise the training of the analysts in professional personnel activities, including all aspects of exam development Supervise the administration of exams, with the support of the City Department of Human Resources, in accordance with civil service rules and policies Build and maintain strong relationships with hiring managers and department leaders to gain understanding of hiring needs and ensure vacancies are filled with high-quality candidates in a timely manner Design and provide ongoing training to district hiring managers on effective hiring practices in addition to Civil Service policies and procedures Complete special projects as needed, including but not limited to drafting recruitment, exam, general HR policies in conjunction with team, colleagues, District HR & City HR
