About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The Administrative Services Department is responsible for internal business within the Orange County Department of Education. The Catering, Cafeteria, and Student Nutrition departments is responsible for insuring nutritious meals for students and staff. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Culinary Chef. The Culinary Chef provides food services for the OCDE's schools and staff. The incumbent researches and develops menus and recipes and provides guidance to Culinary Services workers on food preparation and presentation. The Culinary Chef also performs routine food service preparation and cleaning duties and ensuring the cafeteria and kitchen are maintained in a clean and sanitary condition.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or high school equivalency test. • Three (3) years of experience preparing and serving food in a food service operation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. • Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A current County approved Food Handler’s Certificate ServSafe Food Production Manager Certificate or equivalent.
