Job Summary

California Advancing Pathways for Students (CalAPS) is dedicated to developing and providing quality Career Technical Education for students to ensure they become successful, contributing college and career ready members within the global community. We are currently seeking substitute teachers who are prompt and reliable, appropriately dressed and follow CALAPS guidelines. CalAPS is an after-school program and our typical hours are from 4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. and will need a sub at either of our three school site: Bellflower High School, Mayfair High School, or Somerset High School.

Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and CBEST are required. Valid 30-Day Substitute Permit Certificate of Clearance (COC) ****You will be required to complete a fingerprint background check, TB clearance, and physical examination, at your expense. Drug screening will be required and CalAPS will cover the expense. ***

Comments and Other Information

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks: Maintains and respects the confidentiality of student and school personnel information; Maintains discipline and classroom control that fosters a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies; Ensures adequate supervision to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students; Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities; Reports to the office upon arrival at school; checks mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention, requests clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary; Reports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible; Implements lesson plans; Dismisses all students from the classroom before leaving the building; Returns instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place; Complies with and supports school and division regulations and policies; Models non-discriminatory practices in all activities; Performs other related duties as assigned by the site administrator(s) in accordance with school district policies and practies.
