Job Summary
The 7th/8th Grade Science Teacher at IFTIN Charter School is responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing instruction for middle school students in the areas of Earth Science, Life Science, and Physical Science. This position involves creating an engaging, student-centered classroom environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific literacy. The teacher will implement the school's curriculum, which aligns with state standards, and use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of all learners. Additionally, the teacher will be expected to assess student progress, conduct assessments, collaborate with fellow educators, participate in professional development, and communicate with parents and guardians to ensure students' success.

Instructional Design:
Plan and deliver project-based, hands-on lessons that foster critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and active learning. Lessons should be engaging, educational, and connected to real-world applications.
Student-Centered Approach:
Create lesson plans that align with student goals, competencies, and personal interests, ensuring each student sees the relevance of their science education in their own lives.
Assessment & Feedback:
Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments. Provide timely feedback to students on assignments and homework, helping them understand areas of strength and areas for growth.
Support for Struggling Students:
Identify students who are facing academic, emotional, or personal challenges and provide the necessary resources and support to help them succeed.
Goal Achievement:
Ensure that both individual and group academic goals are met, while also contributing to overall school-wide performance goals. Work collaboratively to maintain high standards of achievement for all students.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with fellow teachers, school leaders, and families to monitor student progress, share best practices, and address any challenges students may face.
Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching methods, keep up with educational trends, and improve your own practice. Additionally, support peers in developing and refining their own instructional practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
- Single Subject Credential in Science/Multiple Subject Credential in the State of California
- EL Authorization
