The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. OCDE’s vision is that “Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success.” Department staff are working to achieve this goal in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development, from early childhood through higher education, and in partnership with families, businesses and community organizations.

Job Summary

The Educational Services Division is dedicated to supporting professional learning for Orange County school districts. Through our collective capacity, Educational Services provides high quality and sustainable professional learning that enhances the professional capital of the community we serve. OC Pathways - connects educators and industry leaders to equip students for college and career success. CTEp -Career Technical Education Partnership is a consortium of the Garden Grove, Orange, and Santa Ana Unified School Districts and the Orange County Department of Education. They promote and support college and career readiness. The Career Education unit falls under the umbrella of the Educational Services Division and provides professional development, consultation and technical assistance for district leaders and school staff. The team includes coordinators and staff who have expertise in the implementation and development of OC Pathways and CTEp programs. The Career Education Unit is currently seeking a Program Specialist, Educational Services to support the development and implementation of Career Education. The Program Specialist will provide education and training related to the OC Pathways and CTEp programs, establish procedures and protocols under program guidelines, and provide responsible and complex staff assistance as required.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor's Degree with major course work in education. • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible educational experience in educational program. • Valid California Credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program. Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements • A valid California credential authorizing instruction or service in a public school program.
